Indian Summer (2008)

It’s not as warm as it used to be.

The days are gray and empty

And the nights follow with a cold breeze

Chilling the heart, like January

That used to be so filled

With the warmth of a June day

It feels like frost bite

Black and blue and numb.

Hardening the surface,

Rotting the inside.

There won’t be an Indian summer

This year.
